Non-woven florist wrap: what it is and why shops use it
A material that behaves like fabric, resists water and does not crease. That combination explains its adoption.

What non-woven means
The sheet is made from fibres bonded together mechanically or chemically rather than woven on a loom. That gives it a soft, cloth-like hand with no grain direction, so it drapes in any direction and does not fray when cut. It is the same family of material used in reusable shopping bags.
Why it suits bouquets
Flowers are irregular, wet at the base and need a wrap that curves without creasing. Non-woven does all three: it folds softly rather than cracking, it holds a shape when gathered, and it does not soak through from a wet stem end. Paper fails on at least two of those counts.
Water resistance in practice
Most non-woven florist wraps resist water rather than being waterproof. That is enough to stop a damp stem wrapping marking through during a delivery. Left standing in water it will eventually wet through, so it is not a substitute for a proper water source at the stem.
Korean cotton wrap
Often sold under this name, it is a soft matte non-woven sheet in muted colours, popular for the loose gathered bouquet style. The finish is deliberately understated so the flowers carry the arrangement. It handles very similarly to other non-wovens.
Sheet sizes and counts
Florist wrap is sold in square sheets, commonly around twenty-three inches, and in packs from twenty sheets up to well over a hundred. The count is the number that determines value for a working shop, and larger packs are substantially cheaper per sheet.
Layering colours
A common technique is two or three sheets in different tones, offset so the edges show as layers around the bouquet. That is why wraps are sold in colour assortments as well as single colours, and why the sheet count in a pack matters more than it first appears.
Cutting and finishing
Non-woven cuts cleanly with scissors and does not fray, so raw edges can be left exposed. Pinking shears give a decorative edge. There is no need to hem or fold under, which is part of why it is faster to work with than fabric.
Alternatives and when they suit
Kraft paper suits a rustic look and creases permanently. Cellophane protects and shows the flowers but reads as less considered. Fabric looks expensive and costs accordingly. Non-woven sits in the middle on cost and above most alternatives on practicality.
Buying quantities
Florist wrap is consumed steadily, and shops go through it far faster than retail pack sizes assume. Buying in the counts a working shop uses removes a recurring errand. You do not need a trade account to buy at that scale here.
How this applies when you are buying
Non-woven wrap is a bonded-fibre sheet rather than a woven fabric: it drapes around stems, holds a fold without a hard crease, and resists water so a wet stem does not soak through. That combination is why it has largely replaced paper in flower shops.
Korean cotton and non-woven bouquet wraps, waterproof and matte, in the sheet counts a working flower shop gets through.
